Gimp
This was my first experiment with Gimp. I tried to use text first and played around with positioning and how to set up a document. I also changed the typeface of the text and colour. Changing the size of the text etc was very straight forward.
Here is an example where I was playing with layers and perspective. It is the same image used three times. I have used layers and have also played with free warping. There are lots of clever tools on Gimp that I have found but they are so easy to use and play with.
This is another piece I made which combined image and text using Gimp. I also added a filter on the image and played with Contrast, Hue and Saturation. There are many different effects available to use.
Here I took a picture of mine and stretched it. This was my experimentation of proportions in Gimp and changing the presentation of images.
This piece shows experimentation of layers and dimensions again. This time using a picture of me on my 18th Birthday dinner. The idea of using layers is showing how times change and how things pass. This idea being how we always get older and our age changes each year.
This last example shows what happens when I take an image of myself and turn the contrast, hue and saturation all the way up to its maximum setting. I'm left with a rather interesting effect.
Experimenting with the Whirl and Pinch tool.
