Inkscape
Conditional Design
I think that Inkscape is very similar to Adobe Illustrator but an interesting alternative. On the right is a piece I made and quite happy with. I simply wrote 'Design Libre Graphics' and then found an effect where I could change the text to look like different textures. In this case it looks like water. It gives you anchor points and this allows you to manipulate it. I used the anchor points to drag the water across the page to make it look as if it has moved and it also creates and interesting effect and composition in my opinion.
For this piece I wanted to experiment more with type, composition and scale in Inkscape. I also changed the background colour of the document for the first time.
This is my own independent research/experimentation showing my interest in the zooming capability of Inkscape. You can zoom in a lot as this demonstrates.
Using the wave tool to move text and creating shapes.
Experimenting with different text effects.
Distorting text to create image and using text effects and filters.
Experimenting with text composition and overlay effects.
Making shapes and then experimenting with colour, protrusions and more shape effects.
